03.06.20 Eng Day 45 Settings Description

English
Yesterday, you created expanded noun phrases using some ambitious adjectives. Today we are going to turn those phrases into sentences and improve them by adding fronted adverbial phrases. These phrases are used at the beginning of a sentence, to describe when, where or how something is happening.

EXAMPLES
1. In the distance, I could hear the melodic tweets of the beautiful, blue birds.

2. Below the clouds, the calm, trickling stream glistened under the light of the summer sun.

3. Slowly, the evergreen trees swayed as the wind whistled through the leaves.

(Notice how there is a comma after the fronted adverbial phrase).

These phrases keep our writing interesting and help the reader to clearly picture the setting you are describing!

TASK: Have a go at adding some fronted adverbial phrases to the expanded noun phrases you created in yesterday's lesson. If you would like to challenge yourself, you could extend your sentences by adding in some conjunctions! Below is a list of adverbials for you to magpie.
