Maths Day 37 Symmetry



Symmetry

A shape is symmetrical if it can be split into 2 identical halves

Watch the video below. 






TASK: Cut out some shapes of your own or use the templates at the bottom of this post. Draw the lines of symmetry on the shapes and write how many lines of symmetry there are. 


EXAMPLE

1. Do you think this shape is symmetrical? Estimate, how many lines of symmetry do you think it will have?
2. Draw on the lines of symmetry using a ruler. Fold the paper over the line to double check that it is a line of symmetry.
3, Count how many lines of symmetry there are. Be careful not to count a line twice!
