Maths Day 38 Horizontal and Vertical

Yesterday we looked at symmetry and how shapes can be symmetrical or non-symmetrical.
  

Today we are going to focus on horizontal and vertical lines. Have a think, where might you have heard those words before?

STARTER: Have a look around your house, can you find 3 horizontal lines and 3 vertical lines? 



Some shapes have horizontal or vertical lines of symmetry. 

TASK 1: Label the lines of symmetry on the shapes below. Do they have a vertical line, a horizontal line, or both?
