TASK 2: ECHO READ

WEDNESDAY - SECTION 1




 Adults, spend time over the next few days doing 'Echo Reads' with your child. We use this a lot in school to help our pupils build fluency (being able to read without having to sound out) and expression! If you would like your child to be independent, they could use Miss Robinson's video, pausing the video to Echo Read.

For example:

Adult: An amazing thing once happened to me. 
Child: An amazing thing once happened to me.
Adult: I was wandering in the woods then I tripped
Child: I was wandering in the woods when I tripped

TASK 3: READ, REREAD and RECORD
Use the next few days to help your child become familiar with the text. Listen to them read this story and help them to repeat sections. Use the Fluency Checklist to help your child assess their reading. 

  • Read a small sections
  • Take breaks
  • Keep revisiting the text
  • Let them keep listening to the story being read
  • Let them read along with the video
  • Record them and let them listen back to their own reading. Talk to them about what parts they enjoyed reading. Use the Fluency Checklist
