07.05.20 Eng Day 33 Letter Writing

English Day 4: To complete my letter.

You should now have a collection of full sentences that will form the main paragraph in your letter.

TASK 1: Now you need to add an opening paragraph. This sentence will explain why you are thanking the person you have chosen. It will begin with the sentence stem:

I am writing to thank you for …

TASK 2: You will also need to add a closing paragraph. This will be a sentence or two that summarise your letter.

E.g.
Again, thank you for keeping me safe. I really appreciate how hard you are working.

TASK 3: CHECK! Have you included all of the features of a letter? Use the picture below to check your letter. Click to enlarge.

A formal letter does not usually include pictures. HOWEVER, we have written this letter to say thank you and to make people SMILE. Therefore, if you would like to add some colour or drawings to your letter, then go ahead!

Well done Year 3! We know that your letters are going to mean a lot to our key workers!

Note to parents: If your child's letter is to the NHS and you would like to send it to them, use the address on the letter above.

As usual, Miss Vardy and Miss Robinson would love to see your letters! Send a picture to year3@hilltop.doncaster.sch.uk
