VE DAY CELEBRATIONS!

This Friday is VE Day!

VE Day stands for 'Victory in Europe Day'. This marks the day towards the end of World War Two (WW2) when fighting against Nazi Germany in Europe came to an end.

On 8th May 1945, the Prime Minister at the time (Winston Churchill) made an announcement on the radio at 3pm, that the war in Europe had come to an end. Many people were extremely happy that the fighting had stopped and there were big celebrations and street parties.

This year, it is the 75th anniversary! Up and down the country people will be celebrating safely in their homes.

Below there are a list of activities that you could do this Friday to celebrate. Miss Vardy will be having a picnic party in her garden! Miss Robinson will be wearing fancy dress! What will you do?

  • Make bunting
  • Decorate your house in red, white and blue
  • Make some Union Jack flags
  • Have a tea party
  • Have a picnic inside or in your garden
  • Bake buns or cakes and decorate
  • Cook recipes from the 1940’s
  • Wear fancy dress, maybe something red, white and blue!

Whatever you decide to do, remember to stay safe and social distance at all times!
