23.04.20 Eng Day 23 Poetry

Day 4: To write a draft of my poem

Have a look at the rhyming words that you wrote yesterday. Today, you are going to put them into phrases or sentences. Remember to put the rhyming words at the end of the line.

Use Roald Dahl's poem and my own poem for some ideas!

The title of my poem will be:

The Dentist and the Snake 🐍
The snake, eating a chocolate flake, sat in the dentist's chair,
He said, "Right here and everywhere, my teeth require repair."

The dentist looked in horror, she wanted to run away and hide,
But she decided to face her fears, and said "you'd better open wide".

She took one glance at the snake's teeth and noticed a rotten fang,
The dentist took a step back and said "You've eaten too much meringue!"

The snake replied, "That's not possible, I only eat healthy snacks like apples, cucumber and melon."
It was then, that the dentist noticed the snake's sly smile and a huge drop of venom

Have a go at writing your own short poem about a dentist and the animal you chose. Make it as silly and as creative as you can!
